Custom Pet Portraits That Capture the Heart

Lifelike, soulful drawings that celebrate the unique bond between you and your pet.

As a UK-based pastel pencil artist, I specialise in creating custom pet portraits that go beyond simple likeness. Each drawing is a heartfelt tribute—crafted with meticulous detail and care—to reflect the personality, spirit, and story of your beloved animal companion.

Inspired by the peaceful Kent countryside and a deep love of nature, my work blends traditional techniques with emotional depth. I take the time to understand every pet’s character, so your finished portrait is not just a piece of art, but a lasting memory of a cherished friend.

How to Choose the Perfect Photo for Your Pet Portrait

To create a truly special portrait, I rely on clear, high-quality photographs that capture your pet's personality and details. Here are some simple tips to help you choose (or take) the best photo:

1. Clear and Sharp Images
Blurry or pixelated images make it hard to capture fine details like fur texture and facial expressions. Choose a photo that’s crisp and in focus—especially around the eyes. It’s important that your pet is featured large within the image. Ideally the pet is looking at the camera so I can clearly see important features. You are more than welcome to send additional images that may help me to achieve accurate colouring and any other important details.

2. Good Lighting
Natural daylight works best. Soft, indirect light (like near a window or outdoors on a cloudy day) brings out your pet’s true colours and details without harsh shadows or glare.

3. Eye-Level Perspective
Photos taken at your pet’s eye level create the most engaging and lifelike portraits. Avoid angles that distort their features, like shots from above or behind.

4. Personality & Expression
Pick a photo that reflects your pet’s personality—whether it’s a cheeky head tilt, a sleepy stare, or a big grin. These little moments help bring the portrait to life.

5. One Pet at a Time
If you'd like a portrait of multiple pets, individual photos usually work better than group shots. I can combine them into one portrait using separate images, as long as each pet is clearly visible.

6. High Resolution
Please send the original photo file (not a screenshot or social media version). The higher the resolution, the more detail I can include in your portrait.

Not sure if your photo is suitable?
I'm happy to take a look and offer guidance before I begin. Just send it over, and we’ll choose the best one together!
